Harris Logistics Ltd enjoys growth with RBS backing
Milton Keynes, May 2009 - Logistics and delivery company, Harris Logistics Ltd is
going from strength to strength as it expands, more than tripling its turnover to £2M, with financial
backing from The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS).
Headquartered in Milton Keynes, Harris Logistics is owned by Gary Harris, Managing Director. The company
has two depots based in Milton Keynes and Sheffield enabling it to operate nationwide. It offers a range of
specialist services including: two-man delivery service, which specialises in the delivery of larger bulkier
goods; express delivery; same day services; light haulage and logistics. Harris Logistics is a classic
success story; entrepreneur Gary launched the business from humble beginnings when in 2000 he purchased a
van becoming an owner and driver courier. Having established a strong reputation, he was successful in 2003
when he won a contract with ByBox, a box-based logistics company and subsequently went limited in 2005.
He had soon amassed a fleet of seven vans. Seeking to grow the business further, Gary sought a new banking
partner and switched to NatWest, part of the RBS Group in 2007.
Gary approached NatWest for funding assistance to support his anticipated growth, following new business
wins and an increasing customer base. The NatWest team, which included Steve George, Business Development
Manager at RBS Invoice Finance, worked with the business to gain insight into its forecasted growth and put
a bespoke funding solution in place to assist the expansion. RBS Invoice Finance provided £350K
funding working capital, wages and fuel. Additional funding assistance was also provided late last year as
Harris Logistics sought to increase its fleet. Steve Weeks, Relationship Manager from Lombard, the asset
finance arm of the RBS Group, provided an annual credit line facility of £150K to facilitate the
acquisition of nine new vans and lorries bringing the company's total number of vehicles to 21.
Nick Munson at NatWest further assisted the business with the recommendation of Ken Weeks, of Griffins
Accountants who is now also working alongside the business.
Gary Harris, Managing Director, Harris Logistics Ltd commented:
"As a business, we place emphasis on offering our clients excellent customer service and, by consistently
delivering, we have built a reputation as a business that can be relied upon fully, which has been a key
factor to our growth and success.
"I am grateful to RBS for providing ongoing support to our business. We are continuing to grow and we
are delighted with the level of assistance we have received from our bank."
Steve Weeks, Relationship Manager, Lombard added:
"Harris Logistics is a quality business that offers the very best to its customers, and as such the business
is flourishing. The company first approached RBS in 2006, and since then colleagues from across the RBS Group
have worked closely with Gary to understand the business' growth aspirations and tailored funding
packages accordingly.
"I wish the Harris Logistics team every success as it continues to grow."
